The Tribal Artisans

Hello everyone,
Together with our Keyborgs resculpt, we would like to share with a very interesting project that we have started awhile ago, that just came to fruition – The Tribal Artisans.

Where we were

As you might have known, our tribal artisans were inspired from those long lost Native American civilizations. In the beginning, our Tribe sculpt is only a vague image of a strong, monstrous looking god – being the leader of his warriors – the Tribe Bird and Lion (we forgot to mention about the Tribe warriors – where our ideas started).

While digging deeper into their myths and stories, we’ve found out the similarities between our “Tribe sculpt”- also previously called “the Tribe God”, later called “the Tribe” – and the Aztec God of Death – Mictlantecuhtli. Therefore, we decided to follow this approach to learn more about the Aztec culture. When we decided to make a Tribal set of 3, only the very 1st Tribe sculpt made it into the market, sadly because the previous 3D printer couldn’t handle the details back then.

Until recently, when we have had a chance to get ourselves a new 3D printer and we can finally introduce to you our “old but gold” project – the new Tribal pair, namely the Humming bird (H.Bird) and the Lady Serpent (L. Serpent).

  1. The Humming Bird: Inspired by the most important God of the Aztec – Huitzilopochtli (pron. Huit-zi-lo-pocht-li) or ‘Hummingbird of the South’ or ‘Blue Hummingbird on the Left’ was one of the most important deities in the Aztec pantheon and for the Méxica he was the supreme god. He was the god of the sun and war, considered the patron of the Aztec capital Tenochtitlán and associated with gold, warriors and rulers.

  1. The Lady Serpent: Going with the Sun God, we’ve decided to describe the earth – mother goddess – Coatlicue (pron. Co-at-li-cu-e). Represented as an old woman, she symbolised the antiquity of earth worship and she presents one of the most fearsome figures in Aztec art. Coatlicue also was the patron of childbirth associated with warfare, governance and agriculture. She was considered the female aspect of the primordial god Ometeotl. The Goddess was worshipped in the spring ritual of Tozozontli in the rainy season and in the autumnal hunting festival of Quecholli, when an impersonator of the goddess was sacrificed.

More to come…

Having a chance to bring Keyborgs and Tribals artisans to life, we are extremely happy. Using the details of the sculpt to express the stories and ideas that inspired us. From the human imagination of a future with Keyborgs, or a thousand-years-old civilization. Those stories that keep us moving forward, connecting us in many ways.

Our work will keep on going as there are more and more stories that we would like to share with you. Rest assure that we will share new ideas and projects with you in our Discord community!

Thanks for reading! <3
