About Me

A Sculptor, a Proud Father, and a Husband

Hello everyone, I am an ordinary individual from Vietnam, where I’ve lived for almost 34 years. Currently, I’m juggling three different jobs that suit my love for challenges and hard work.

  • An office job similar to many of you
  • A craft designing job, my dream career I could never abandon
  • A consulting job with my best friend, Jesse

While it can be exhausting, I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. I find immense satisfaction in my diverse career and personal relationships. A few years ago, I couldn’t fathom managing multiple jobs, let alone ones that align with my passions.

Moreover, I am grateful for the unwavering support from the community. The wonderful people I’ve met through this journey often seem more enthusiastic and proud of my work than I am. Thank you all for everything!

THE START

For those unfamiliar, I am a self-taught sculptor who was introduced to the artisan keycap community by my older brother. Although I’m an artisan maker, I wouldn’t call myself an artist because I’m self-taught. I consider myself a sculptor, as from the very first moment that I touched sculpting clay three years ago, it became something special to me.

I wasn’t born in an artistic environment, but my older brother, a self-taught artist himself, inspired me with his drawing skills. I drew non-stop from age five until I was 18 then I realized I wasn’t great at it. However, these years of drawing from imagination formed the foundation of my creativity and innovation.

In 2020, at 30 years old, I discovered sculpting and touched sculpting clay for the first time. My life radically changed after that. I spent hours each day sculpting, even after long office hours. In 2021, I discovered Nomad sculpt, a portable 3D sculpting application, which again revolutionized my work.

DESIGNING STYLE

From the beginning, I’ve been drawn to complex, intricate designs. My initial sculpting tools were inadequate, so I created my own using guitar strings and small needles. Each sculpting project was a challenging adventure.

3D sculpting opened a new world for me. Despite trying multiple options, I ended up choosing a combination of Nomad Sculpt and iPad. The lack of certain features didn’t bother me, as I was willing to do things manually on Nomad to prevent my hands from getting hurt which I experienced with other software.

3D sculpting has allowed my intricate designs to thrive. I can add as many details as the printer allows. From 2020 to 2024, I continuously upgrade my printers, resulted in the increasing quality of my artisans

ABOUT ARTISAN

Making artisan keycaps is a dream come true for me. It provides me with a unique way to create my own characters, which is why I always try to craft original designs. While artisan keycaps were my first step into character design, I strive to depict them as clearly as possible.

Though I don’t consider myself an artist or an artisan maker, I see myself as a sculptor or character designer. Regardless, I will continue creating for myself and for all of you who love and support my work. Cheers!
