The Keyborg Trio

Hello everyone,
It’s been over 19 months since we first introduced Keyborg and organized our very first raffle. We still remember it, the day we officially started to contribute to the artisan keycap community.

Throughout 2021 and the first half of 2022, our theme has been heavily under the Japanese influenced, from Feudal Warriors trio, the great Master Rua and his disciples – Butora and Geineko, to the Feudal Monster trio: Oni-Chan, Tanuki and Kitsune. We have been preparing for a change, a refreshing combo that is… less Japanese.

After 1 year, with many new things that we have learned and experienced, we look for improvement in our old designs, and Keyborg was the perfect candidate.

With that being said, we proudly introduce our new Keyborg trio:

• Val: Viking Keyborg (for Valhalla!)
• Sam: Samurai Keyborg
• Bal: Immortal Keyborg

Let us take you through the story behind their design.

Viking Keyborg

At the time that we re-sculpted Master Rua and Geineko (from Meo), we also did an Odin sculpt. Unfortunately, the details was too heavy that the previous printer couldn’t handle it. So we put it aside for awhile. Now that we have upgraded our printer (from 4K to 8K) and applied some new techniques, we are able to bring back Odin idea, and make it more interesting – a Viking Cyborg. Half God, Half… Robot.

Inherit what we did with Odin sculpt, the unique Viking characteristics are maintain in the new design, such as: horns, helmet, fur cloak…

Samurai-Borg

As we mentioned that we are trying something refreshing and less Japanese, therefore, we only have 1 Samurai for this trio. However, with the new 8K printer, we are able to bring more details into the sculpt to fully reflect a true samurai! It is also based on a Cyborg that is more human, so the image of a Samurai is stronger than previous sculpts.

With Sam, it’s quite self-explanatory with his Samurai helmet and 2 covers on the sides. What we’re really happy here is the fake “eyes” on his helmet, which are used to deceive his opponent!! 😈

Bal – The Survivor

Building Bal images, at first, we were having David Jones in mind, the octopus captain in Pirates of the Caribbean, from the top. Half way going through his face and mask, we’ve decided to go for Bane, the villain in Batman “The Dark Knight Rises”, infused with Immortan Joe of Mad-Max.

We have shaved his head entirely, and use that space for some creative patterns with our casting technique, rather than putting a complex hat with a lot of details like the other Keyborgs.

The Future

Will they cross path with each other?
Will they fight against each other, or together?

We don’t know what the future may hold for them, yet. And we would leave it to your imagination if you ever have 1 of them in your collection!!!

We believe that each of them has a destiny and they need to fulfill it!!
